Weekend Wrap Up

The Weekend Wrap Up

Welcome to the inaugural Weekend Wrap Up post. The Wrap Up (with an emphasis on the word “Rap”) will re-cap the funniest, biggest, and most culturally relevant moments of the weekend, with rap lyrics from a new featured song every week.

The first song to be featured in the Wrap Up is Bodak Yellow, the inescapable hit song by Cardi B. If you haven’t heard it yet, I don’t know how you’re getting WiFi service in the cave you’ve been living in. Check it out: here

“Look, I don’t dance now
I make money moves”

In the biggest money move this weekend, the biggest artist in the streets right now met the biggest artist on the planet period. Only something like Jay Z’s Made in America festival could bring these two together, and everyone is here for it. Now we just need a Cardi B/Queen B collab.

“If I see you and I don’t speak
That means I don’t f*ck with you”

The harshest line of the song goes to the harshest moment of last night’s Insecure episode. “I don’t f*ck with you” applies to Issa seeing Lawrence at the dinner party and vice versa. But after how their conversation went when they finally did speak, I bet they’re both wishing they didn’t at all.

“I used to live in the P’s
Now it’s a crib with a gate”

The biggest come-up of the weekend goes to the biggest comeback of the weekend, which took place during the Texas A&M v. UCLA game. Down 38-10 in the second half, UCLA mounted an epic comeback that culminated in a 45-44 last second victory. Come-up indeed.

“They see pictures, they say goals
Bitch, I’m who they tryna be”

My favorite moment of the weekend was without question during the University of Miami v. Bethune-Cookman game. Miami apparently has a giant gold link chain called the “Turnover Chain”, which is a reward for players who force a turnover. Miami sophomore Malek Young was caught on camera wearing the chain during Saturday’s  game, and the awesomeness pretty much speaks for itself.

That’s all til next week folks!
